⚖️ Core Principles

Rider Agreement

Terms for LaynRider Users

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to register for and use LaynRider. By creating an account you confirm that you are 18 or older.

2. Booking & Real Fare Payment

Before confirming a booking, you see the fare calculated from the verified road-route distance, the fleet's active distance-based pricing curve and minimum fare, and any applicable return-trip pricing. The curve means the fare is not calculated simply by multiplying distance by a fixed price per kilometre. Digilayn introduced the pricing model; changes to the curve's steepness require driver voting.

The displayed fare and the pricing settings used for your booking are locked when you confirm. Later fleet pricing changes do not alter an already-confirmed booking. By confirming, you agree to pay the driver upon trip completion in cash or by another agreed payment method.

For return trips, the agreed waiting time and the rate for exceeding it are shown before you confirm. If you exceed that waiting time, an additional charge is calculated using the waiting rate locked for your booking. The app shows the accumulating excess-waiting charge while the driver waits. You pay the confirmed fare plus this charge, if applicable. Drivers may not add any other charges or off-app markups.

3. Pickup Location & Accuracy

With permission, LaynRider requests location when needed for foreground service-area checks or when you choose "Use Current Location" for a pickup. It does not track riders in the background. Pickup and destination coordinates selected for a booking are stored with that trip. You are responsible for ensuring your pickup pin is accurate and situated in a safe, accessible area for the driver to stop.

4. Passenger Conduct & Safety

Riders must treat drivers and their vehicles with respect. Damaging a driver's vehicle, carrying illegal substances, or engaging in harassing behaviour will result in immediate permanent account suspension.

5. Community Use & Assumption of Risk

LaynRider is a connection platform for the Poortjie community, not a transport carrier. Digilayn does not employ drivers and does not verify the real identity of any rider or driver — names, photos, and phone numbers are self-provided and unverified. You use LaynRider at your own risk and are solely responsible for deciding whom to ride with; you should only accept rides from drivers you personally know and trust. Digilayn is not liable for the conduct of any user or for anything that occurs during a trip.

6. Cancellations

If you must cancel a ride, please cancel promptly through the app before the driver arrives to avoid unnecessary travel and fuel costs for the driver.

Driver Agreement

Terms for LaynDriver Partners

1. Independent Fleet Operator Status

Drivers operate as independent transport providers. Digilayn provides technology software and is not an employer or transport carrier. You retain full control over when you choose to go online and accept ride requests.

2. Licensing, Roadworthiness & Legal Compliance

You represent and warrant that you hold a valid driver's license (with appropriate Professional Driving Permit / PrDP if applicable), that your vehicle is fully licensed and roadworthy, and that you comply with all South African National Road Traffic laws.

3. Live Location Sharing

While toggled to "Online" or during an assigned booking, LaynDriver requires background and foreground location access. This allows the system radar to broadcast your position to nearby riders and compute accurate pickup routes.

4. Democratic Fare Governance

Digilayn introduced the distance-based pricing curve. Eligible drivers vote on proposed fleet pricing changes for their vehicle type, including changes to the curve's steepness. Approved pricing changes apply to new bookings; already-confirmed bookings retain their original fare and pricing settings, including the excess-waiting rate. Drivers must charge the confirmed fare plus only the disclosed excess-waiting charge for return trips, where applicable, and may not add other charges or off-app markups.

5. Road Liability & Disclaimers

Digilayn is not liable for traffic violations, road accidents, vehicle wear and tear, or third-party claims arising from vehicle operations. Drivers must maintain appropriate vehicle insurance.

General Terms & Account Policy

1. Account Deletion

Riders can sign in at the public account-deletion page to inspect and immediately permanently delete their LaynRider account and associated data. Drivers can use the same page to request manager-assisted profile/account deletion by email, or submit a request in the app. Driver booking records remain unchanged after profile deletion; see the Privacy Policy for retained data and current retention details.

2. Service Modifications

Digilayn continually updates and enhances the LaynFleet platform. We reserve the right to modify or suspend services for routine maintenance or safety improvements.

3. Contact & Dispute Resolution
